The One You Feed

“You have two wolves inside… the one that survives, is the one you feed…”

I don’t know about you, but this hits differently when you really slow down and think about it.

Inside each of us lives a constant tug-of-war. One wolf represents fear, jealousy, insecurity, anger, comparison, self-doubt. The voice that says you’re not doing enough. Not good enough. Not moving fast enough. The one that scrolls social media and whispers, “Why not you?”

The other wolf? That one is peace. Gratitude. Confidence. Growth. Compassion. The part of you that celebrates other people’s wins. The voice that reminds you how far you’ve come. The one that says, “Keep going. You’re becoming.”

Both wolves exist. That’s the truth.

We don’t get to delete the negative one. We don’t get to pretend fear never shows up. We don’t wake up one day magically healed and never triggered again. Life doesn’t work like that. Growth doesn’t work like that.

But here’s the powerful part: we choose which one we feed.

Every thought we entertain is food.
Every conversation we participate in is food.
Every piece of content we consume is food.
Every habit we practice is food.

If we constantly rehearse worst-case scenarios, criticize ourselves, dwell on what’s missing, or stay in environments that drain us… we’re feeding the dark wolf.

But when we practice gratitude — even on hard days — we feed the light.
When we speak kindly to ourselves, we feed the light.
When we forgive, try again, set boundaries, rest without guilt, and cheer for others… we feed the light.

And slowly, quietly, that wolf grows stronger.

This doesn’t mean toxic positivity. It doesn’t mean ignoring real pain. It means acknowledging the struggle but choosing not to live there permanently.

Some days the darker wolf feels louder. That doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human. The key is awareness. Catching yourself mid-spiral. Pausing. Redirecting.

Ask yourself:
What am I feeding today?

Because here’s what I’ve learned — the wolf that survives shapes your life. It shapes your relationships. Your confidence. Your peace. Your purpose.

You may not control every circumstance around you, but you always have influence over what you nurture within you.

So today, choose intentionally.
Choose thoughts that build.
Choose habits that heal.
Choose people who pour back into you.

Feed what strengthens you.
Feed what aligns with who you’re becoming.
Feed the version of you that you’d be proud to grow into.

Because in the end, the life you experience is deeply connected to the wolf you decide to nourish.

And you, my friend, are more powerful than you think.
